One of the most joyful family holidays is near the corner! Christmas is that time of the year when everyone welcomes joy, happiness, and cheers into their homes. You wear your beloved Xmas clothes, pull out the lights and decorations, dig into tasty meals and buffets. With your kids, you await Santa Claus with his reindeer sleigh. While enjoying all the festivities of the season, everyone has to get through the Christmas period by keeping overall health during and after the holiday period.
Be vigilant about the food you eat
Let’s be honest, during this festive season many of you can’t just stop enjoying eating plenty of nuts, cheese straws, and candy. When you have diverse delicious food and drink at your fingertips, it’s hard and a bit challenging to refuse. Therefore, it’s crucial to keep in mind that it will lead to overindulging with a full stomach and gained weight.
Be aware of what your body consumes. Take a minute to think whether you really want that mince pie or chocolate bar, or just want to eat it because it’s right in front of your eyes.
Eat until you are not hungry
Eat slowly and in moderation! It’s not a secret that eating small meals throughout the day will help your body function effectively and stop you from feeling over-eaten at the next meal. If you still can’t help eating yummy foods try another tip. After having your normal meal, take a break of 20-minute. After twelve-minute if you realize you are still hungry go on eating, otherwise, stop it. This tip can go a long way toward overindulge.
Choose fiber-rich foods for feeling fuller
Select tasty foods that provide fiber. That will make you feel fuller for a long period. Foods high in fiber are whole grain, fruits such as berries, peach, oranges, vegetables like broccoli, sweetcorn, carrots, nuts, bean, etc.
Keep up with your regular workout or go for a walk
While embracing your time with family and friends, don’t forget about some workouts after dinner (not immediately) or in the morning. Why not walk it off for an hour with friends or family members? Walking outside and getting to breathe fresh winter air will help you feel better and keep your brain healthy. Not to mention, outdoor fresh air is proven to reduce even post-holiday stress.
Instead of switching off in front of the TV, encourage your whole family to get out for a walk or exercise altogether. The movement will help you burn a few extra calories, stay fit and healthy even during this weight-gaining season.
Furthermore, getting your life back on to an even keel after these festive seasons would be difficult. Carry on with your regular routine during the holiday.
Stay hydrated to avoid a hangover
Along with pleasant foods, you may not get enough of the drinks. Some cocktails will definitely get you in the holiday spirit. Although, the next morning you may find yourself a bit down in the dumps while experiencing a hangover. To pick you up, consume more fluids like water to avoid dehydration.
